Stuff like this makes me really excited about the Samsung appeal to the Supreme Court here in the U.S. regarding their ongoing suit and countersuit with Apple. I'm an unapologetic Mac user at times, but I find myself intellectually on the side of Samsung in that case. If Samsung gets cert and a positive outcome from SCOTUS, the patent system here will be forced to reform. Stuff like this will simply go away. As it should.
