- bazzargh 11y agoI'm surprised the '415 patent stands. That's the one for an in-window help pane. `C-h m` (describe-mode) in emacs looks very similar to what they describe and was certainly there in 1995 and earlier. I know there's lots of caveats reading patents, but it appears that the independent claims are 1, 11 and 28 and they all look like at least XEmacs would have beat them to the punch.
- throwawaykf05 11y agoI'd agree the '415 is not a good patent for other reasons too. It claims the result rather than the method in very broad terms.
