Solving something like that I would personally just fire up IDLE and use Python ......

  I'm glad I'm not the only one. It is perhaps more common among linux/mac users, but windows user should just join the python-as-a-calculator club.

  Pretty much any programming language with a repl or similar makes a better calculator than any of these handheld calculator emulators

    Anything emulating a particular handheld calculator will also be better than the trashy default calculator applications that are just a steaming pile of skeuomorphism.

  I seem to recall reading somewhere that pg uses clisp's REPL as his calculator.
