Programming competitions online would help you pick up new skills and experience faster. Lastly, write programs everyday. It doesn't really matter what you write. It doesn't also matter if it's a little script or a large one. Keep at it and you'll be alright. PS: Be patient and try to have fun. Thinking mainly about money right now will likely frustrate you.
