I really wish there was a good laptop that runs Qubes OS and has no BLOBS/closed code/firmware at all.
I do some research on this every now and then and always come up short. The Librem 15 was the last one I looked into but it had closed components. Something like the Novena can't run Qubes but would otherwise be ideal (I'd gladly give up some battery life, looks and whatnot for pure freedom)
If anyone happens to know a suitable candidate let me know. Wouldn't mind a bit of hardware replacing etc. if the lone closed component could be swapped out etc.

I think AMD has open sourced most of their BIOS, and a lot more of their hardware supports IOMMU anyway. Maybe that is a more fruitful direction to consider.
- kriro 11y agoYou are absolutely right. In fact I didn't know that Intel ME is that evil. Interesting (a bit hard to follow imo) talk from the recent CCC: https://media.ccc.de/v/32c3-7352-towards_reasonably_trustworthy_x86_laptops#video https://media.ccc.de/v/32c3-7352-towards_reasonably_trustwor...
