I'm curious if Thailand's human trafficking industry is among your areas of interest. It is recently getting a lot of press coverage but it is nothing new. It is not even well hidden and not something most Thais are concerned about, at least until suddenly international markets for slave-labor-produced products dry up. Seafood [1] and fruit [2] are top of the list. Not only is the problem ignored by Thais in general, but the courts are used to protect the companies profitting from slave labor [3]. And when the Thai government promises to crack down on human trafficking the lead investigator has to flee the country for fear of retribution and seek political asylum [4].
