Hate is a weapon. They point their hate at me; I point my hate at them.
If all guns suddently disappear, it's benign.
But don't persuade me to lower my gun because weapons are dangerous and killing people is immoral - unless the other side lowers their guns at the same time (or before).
If all muslims stop hating non-muslim (fueled by salafi doctrine), and if all christians stop hating people for abortions, admitting of human evolution or whatever - for real! - then I will have no reason to dislike any of them.
Will still have conflicts with them, when the former block streets for their bairams and the latter build churches in parks on public money.

To briefly state what I personally believe (my own viewpoint) I don't think you need to point hate at hate to cure hate. If illiteracy is a problem, you don't need to attack it with illiteracy. Schoolteachers don't need to be illiterate, so they can solve illiteracy by pointing illiteracy at it. Going to elementary school is mandatory in the United States, which has nearly a 100% basic literacy rate. So we solved this problem with laws. Hate is like illiteracy, in my opinion. at any rate we fundamentally view the situation differently, use and think about different analogies, and so forth. it's probably not great to have a debate here, so we should just think about each other's viewpoints without convincing one another. I'll keep yours in mind as well.
- guard-of-terra 11y agoI'm not in business of curing religious fever. I'm talking about self-defense for the case that help never arrives and religious fanatics start to make their words reality. In this case I and parts of my society should be ready to strike fast and relentless. Right now I do not see any projects of Islam moderation in place. But I do see Saudi Arabia "putting out this fire with gasoline". My only plan is "plan B".
