You need to open your mind to differences. For me as a French, raising the flag and singing national anthem for no reason at school is also weird, but I heard it is common in the US. Now that I have lived in China for >10 years I can tell you: people from different countries are different, and that's what makes life bearable. (They are different but also the same, obviously. For example, they all love their children.)
