How much time have you spent in the US? I would argue most US companies are "safe" in the way you describe. The US is bigger overall and thus has more diversity. I agree that Canadian society generally has a complex with the US, ie. look at any local Canadian newspaper story involving the US. But I dont think that affects the top tier Canadian tech companies much.
