> Some say car dependent suburbs are in large part a means for the middle class to self segregate from the underclass. I'm starting to wonder if suburban zoning wasn't actually designed with segregation as its goal. It seems implausible that zoning laws chosen for other reasons would just happen to have negative effects that compound to result in such effective class stratification.
