Ask HN: Could Conan-NBC breakup be a marketing stunt?

I am not suggesting that it is. But if it was, I think it would have been a brilliant strategy (only as long as not everybody starts doing it). It would have gotten NBC all they wanted - a spike (and who knows, maybe even long term improved ratings) in Conan's and Leno's ratings and a final make up to end the day nicely.
