I'm seriously bummed. I don't trust Facebook and by extension, Zuckerberg. But what do we lose by supporting this move? He's made charitable efforts at improving the world before, and making an announcement puts pressure to follow through. And so what if it's vain? A person who does a good deed in vain... still did a good deed. It should be encouraged, including through appeals to vanity.
