I've never been completely satisfied with Thunderbird and have tried to switch multiple times, reverting to web clients every time. Now I am using Nylas N1 built on electron(imagine that!) and it looks very promising.
Also, arrogance of tech conservatives in every Mozilla or web tech thread on HN is becoming unbearable.
- grinich 11y agoThanks for the kind works about N1! (I work at Nylas.) Feel free to send us any feedback if you have ideas for how to improve the app. :)
- fl0wenol 11y agoDo the web clients you've tried or N1 speak LDAP and support S/MIME with a local smart card reader?
- tjohns 11y agoN1 is still in the early stages of development. It's missing email aliases, for example. LDAP + S/MIME are definitely not implemented yet. That said, the platform seems to have potential. I don't see any reason why these couldn't be implemented as plugins.
- grinich 11y agoEmail aliases are coming next week. Some folks are working on a GPG & S/MIME plugin. Stuff is moving really fast. (I work at Nylas.)
- cognivore 11y ago>> tech conservative << What the heck is that?
- vdaniuk 11y agoWell, in this context those who are angry and are actively opposing proliferation of new web tech. Web tech may include new front-end JS frameworks, electron apps built with HTML/CSS for desktop, node itself, es2015 features.
