There are plenty of special-purpose 'listmaking' services — but it's hard to imagine one tackling the problem in the general case because it's just not a great business. Email gets shoehorned into this usecase because it's one of the only personal publishing tool that's totally decentralized and really easy to use. [edit: grammar]
