- SwellJoe 17y agoWhat do you do when your RV is in the shop? I had a propane tank issue that seemed like it was going to require an overnight stay (it didn't, as it was just a gasket), and I was a bit flummoxed by the problem. I guess I'm maybe traveling a little heavier than you (big dog, and three very expensive guitars that I wouldn't want to leave in the truck while it's out of my hands, along with way too much other crap that it seems like I'd need to sort out, like the food in the fridge), but still...since I'm not towing a car, I guess I'd need to first rent a car, then hand over the RV, and settle in at a nearby hotel for the duration of repairs. Seems stressful, but I guess I'll cross that bridge if I come to it.
- brc 17y agoI once stayed in the parking area of a service station while awaiting repairs. Sometimes it's just a case of asking nicely.
- tynan 17y agoNormally I just buy a plane ticket somewhere where I have someone to visit, but this repair is taking a month (new engine!). So far I've stayed with a friend for a week, took a trip to Austin and visited family for a couple days, and also rented a car and am staying at a friend's house across the bridge while he's out of town. I took all of my food and laptop and left everything else... I trust the mechanics. You could also just do a sublet. I was thinking of doing that since I knew the repair would be a month. The hardest part was getting my moped back into the city. I had to stuff it in the trunk of a rental and drive with the trunk open. Tynan
