Why does it suck? With genetic engineering looming, this is literally unimportant. There are no "missing" women. There are humans who have enforced gender selection. This is neither good nor bad empirically, without qualifying what constitutes good or bad. Wait till we have a Gattaca-esque cultural clash. THAT will be problematic and serve as testing grounds for the gradual adoption of genetic modification, among the majority of humanity. Why cure Wilson's disease when you can genetically screen it out?
