It's strange, the more new languages I learn, and the more complexity things like C++ acquire, the more I'm starting to feel like we lost something with simple straightforward languages like pascal and even C

- DennisP 11y agoGo looks pretty simple. I just picked up Kernighan's new book; he says radical simplicity was their main goal, and lists Pascal/Oberon in their influences.
- tormeh 11y agoC isn't simple. It has few parts, yes, but it requires you to combine them in ghastly ways. It also has the worst typing I can imagine. Try using calloc, then you can tell me that C is simple.
- fit2rule 11y agoI'm with you on this - its why I consider that Lua is the language to learn right now. It provides all the powers of the other languages, and all the performance/advantages of C ..
