It's worse than just vagueness. There is a culture of pseudoscientific arrogance and condescension. Foucault's account of the history of psychiatry is a key text. Also, check out Richard Bentall's books.
- cafebeen 11y agoGiven the variety of things under the psychiatry umbrella, there is surely some of that, they don't seem much different from the larger pool of scientists, doctors, public health workers, etc. on the whole. But, there's nothing wrong with a healthy dose of skepticism!
