Checkout latest research in Vehicle Routing Problem, its filled with GA/Ants and similar nonsense.
On the other hand you have TSP which murdered all those GA algorithms with a proper Lin-Kernighan heuristic implementation.
I'm not sure if we are talking about same problems.
