Travel in Europe feels positively affordable compared to major Chinese cities. That said, many Italians love it here because they can actually find a job and make money. I know Italian film directors, restauranteurs, import-export people, and English teachers. They all tell me it's virtually impossible to find a job in Italy, let alone live in your own large modern apartment or save for a house.
