Without speaker notes, this isn't really too helpful. All I really got out of the 97 slides was that the ruby project needs more developers. I don't really know what the difference between a "cathedral" project and a "bazaar" is [1].
I really like ruby, but without actually hearing this speech in person, I don't think it really sends a coherent message.

[1] The Cathedral/Bazaar distinction actually looks quite interesting. It's based on a book by Eric S Raymond (http://catb.org/esr/writings/homesteading/cathedral-bazaar/ http://catb.org/esr/writings/homesteading/cathedral-bazaar/). The wikipedia article is pretty helpful as well (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cathedral_and_the_Bazaar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cathedral_and_the_Bazaar).
- davidw 17y agoAgree completely that slides without the presentation aren't worth much. The Cathedral and the Bazaar was originally an essay by Eric Raymond, not a book. Whatever other faults he may have, he got a lot of things right in that article, and in an eloquent, very comprehensible way. It was a great read when it came out, and it has also more or less stood the test of time.
