Controllers are neat. I've had half a dozen of them of various types. It isn't just the controlling part- but the overall interface and instant cross compatibility. All of my eurorack modules from different vendors mesh together; plus they play well with my Minimoog Voyager, Machinedrum, guitar pedals (some input/output CV). Yea, MIDI kinda allows for this, but really not still in the same instant way. Even modern MIDI devices kinda suck at implementation (see the new Roland Boutique series, which don't output MIDI CC from their faders and knobs.. and even if it did, I couldn't route an LFO from there into a CV processor on a Korg via MIDI). MIDI is more of a "I wonder if this works and has the bandwidth", whereas CV is more, "If you see it, you can do anything you want!"
