Best interview I have had was an interview, then it was followed up by a paid "side-project". I got paid to do some work for them and everybody was happy. Eventually, I figured out there where some politics/business practices that I didn't care for and I politely declined the position. It just wasn't a fit, not the end of the world, nobodies feelings where hurt. (it also helps having a job, when looking for one.)
The thought of 3 month probation period is just silly, the author clear doesn't understand the concept of risk.
I know when I walk into an interview and someone asks me the difference between php 5.6 and 5.7, that's when I walk out. (true story)
- mahyarm 11y agoYou cannot legally do paid side jobs with visa holders.
- dragonwriter 11y ago> You cannot legally do paid side jobs with visa holders. An alien admitted under a visa can do paid side jobs if the visa they have permits work in the United States (unless the visa only allows restricted work not compatible with the particular paid side job.)
- mahyarm 11y agoH1-B & TN visa holders can only do work for their specified employer(s) in their visas. I would be pleasantly surprised if this was actually not the case. If you have a green card or general work permit then it doesn't matter of course. To get a general work permit although, you're usually pretty close to getting a green card.
- dragonwriter 11y ago> H1-B & TN visa holders can only do work for their specified employer(s) in their visas Right, and I'm not saying that that is inaccurate for those particular visas. Just that the generalization to "visa holders" is overbroad.
- mahyarm 11y agoThe vast majority of people you could hire that have visas are those two categories. L visas are even worse because I think you cannot transfer employers with them. The few H1-B spouses, O-* holders and others are few and far between.
