For those who are, like me, ignorant: VS Code is a source code editor... I find it funny that nowhere on the official page (code.visualstudio.com) does it say that it's an editor.

Well, because it is an editor with refactoring ability, debugger integration, proper autocomplete and typechecking, linting, etc. At that point it’s probably as much an IDE as NetBeans is an IDE. It’s not nearly as powerful as normal VS, but still.
