I think you're misidentifying the "System". It's the elections process that made you think Obama was a good guy (and made republicans think Bush and Cheney were good guys). The "system" is what makes us think that giving near unlimited power and access to money printing presses to people on the basis of a popularity contest is somehow expected to produce improvement in the world. I don't think any of them changed character when they got into office... and that includes people like Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan-- who on balance I think are good people, but under whose watch bad things happened. (I pick them because I think they are the best two presidents of my lifetime.)
