- DougN7 11y agoI'm losing all respect for the Oxford dictionary, especially after 'literally' was redefined as 'figuratively'
- Khaine 11y agoMe too. Its sad that they feel the need to do this to appear relevant or trendy.
- wodenokoto 11y agoYeah, it totally sucks to have a dictionary that has words definitions that reflect common word usage of the past 20-30 years. And literally isn't defined as figuratively. It is listed as both a synonym and an antonym meaning to figuratively.
- DanBC 11y agoLiterally has had that use since the early 20th century. Of course a descriptivist dictionary is going to describe that use.
- tzakrajs 11y agoAPRIL FOOLS!
- arama471 11y agoSome of these new words seem to have bias associated with their definition. For example social justice warrior is a derogatory term (that part they got correct) that describes not those who hold socially progressive views, but those who are aggressive in promoting said views, which is why the they use the word warrior, because it denotes their fighting for their cause.
- cafard 11y agoAnd you picked that instead of "manspreading" because?
