In general I'm of the same mindset as you, but to be fair it's not exactly an apples to apples situation. Painters demonstrating a new technique are far less likely to get bogged down trying to figure out why the wrong colors are coming out of their brush or why some strokes don't show any color at all, why their canvas is crashing, etc.
