Live coding is great when done well, and when the presenter is handling it well. Everyone enjoys seeing if the code will work, but no one enjoys watching someone sweat and stammer too much if things start going badly. As a presenter I've done some live coding at times, but I've always had a clear plan for how to proceed if things don't work as I intended. We laugh together, and no real time is wasted. I enjoy watching other presenters who take a similar approach.
