Another pretty large difference between this an the bank robber case is that when the bank robber is convicted, the police don't keep the money...the bank gets it back. This whole issue would go away if seized assets were required to either be returned to the rightful owner or destroyed. If we allow police to keep what they seize, we should call it what it really is...pillaging.
