There's probably a way more detailed Rosetta Code style project that could cover all these nuances, but for a single page demo, there's only so much detail I can get into before it would be more confusing than helpful. If you'd like to flesh out the perl section a bit though, maybe include the differences between 5 and 6, I'd be happy to merge a pull request.
