There's even a Wikipedia page about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numeric_precision_in_Microsoft_Excel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numeric_precision_in_Microsoft... Not that other spreadsheets (LibreOffice, Apple's Numbers) are better: They also use binary floating-point data types instead of a decimal one.
