I don't get it. How many people could possibly have worked on that software? Surely less than a dozen. Why doesn't someone create a throw away email account

I don't get it. How many people could possibly have worked on that software? Surely less than a dozen. Why doesn't someone create a throw away email account and send an email? Better yet, why didn't they before the software shipped?
