Block storage is dead, says ex-HP and Supermicro data bigwig
- itaifrenkel 11y agoIs this trend empowered by SSD? Or should we expect spinning disks SSD hibrid in this model too?
- Upvoter33 11y agowow, very weird to find racism in an article on block storage. "no tickee, no laundry"? how offensive and out of line.

- steego 11y agoI'm not the kind of person who gets easily offended. Like a lot of people, I enjoy environments where people are free to hurl creative, over-the-line and asinine insults at each other so long as everybody has consented to getting their chops busted. Having said that, there's a time and place for everything. When talking publically, it's not only considerate to refrain from mocking accents, it's wise.
- GFK_of_xmaspast 11y agoHow many people reading this were even alive when "Chinese Laundry" was a thing (http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2015/09/04/chinese-laundry/ http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2015/09/04/chinese-laun...)
- andyana 11y agoIs there some subtext to his comparison that I am missing? Couldn't you say this about most services (no receipt, no pickup)? Why did he choose to compare it to "Chinese Laundry"?
- GFK_of_xmaspast 11y ago"No tickee no laundry" is a particular saying that used to be in more common use.
