Let me start by saying I understand what you're saying. I understand why what you're saying is true. However, many people see (and consequently think) this:
"Short version: Python 2.x is legacy, Python 3.x is the present and future of the language"
... which was lifted from https://wiki.python.org/moin/Python2orPython3 https://wiki.python.org/moin/Python2orPython3. It follows that some people would think something along the lines of "...so this library was built for legacy Python?"
