I also have a 2014 5K imac with El Cap, and my system report shows 30-bit / ARGB2101010
However, when I view the test image from the article's comments (http://www.imagescience.com.au/kb/getattachment.php?data=MTUyfDEwIGJpdCB0ZXN0IHJhbXAuemlw http://www.imagescience.com.au/kb/getattachment.php?data=MTU...) I still see banding. Hmm.
- pilif 11y agoWhat are you viewing it in? It opened in Pixelmator for me where it was showing banding. Then I tried again with preview where it was ok. So the app you use to open the file might not have proper 10bit support
- finnh 11y agoPreview. The banding is pretty odd (the bands have gradients _within_ them, it's weird), and is also displaying artifacts from OS X's default window-transparency settings. Turning those "down" helps, a bit, but there's still banding. I don't see an option to turn it off completely. So I'm not sure where to point the finger.
