I just started reading Avogadro Corp (http://www.amazon.com/Avogadro-Corp-Singularity-Closer-Appears-ebook/dp/B006ACIMQQ http://www.amazon.com/Avogadro-Corp-Singularity-Closer-Appea...) this weekend, and this reminds me quite a lot of the emergent AI that figures heavily in the story (ELOPe). A quick synopsis: developers build a system to "improve" responses from emails. The system at some point is given the ability to send emails on its own, and a poorly issued directive. It's been an engaging read so far, and fairly hilarious since the corporation in the book is very obviously based on Google.
- toomuchtodo 11y agoYou'll love the ending. I highly recommend you read the sequel as well: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FZVI2M/ http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007FZVI2M/

- hellbanner 11y agoIs Amazon down for anyone else? Error loading products
- douche 11y agoThat link seems to be broken, as well as most of the product links that Amazon surfaces on the error page. Searching for the title seems to work fine.
- bduerst 11y agoSounds a bit like the premise for The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, where a payroll computer takes up learning humor as a hobby.

- bojo 11y agoThis was the first book that popped into my mind when I saw the article. Great series, worth reading all the way through.
