- eridius 11y agoBecause Apple still isn't selling 5k monitors. I imagine it will happen eventually.
- Eric_WVGG 11y agolimitations of Thunderbolt 2
- Synaesthesia 11y agoA cinema5D reader reported that he got 10 bit on a Mac Pro with D500 graphics and an Eizo CS230 monitor. So it probably depends on your Mac and monitor but you there's a good chance you can get 10 bit output from you MacBook.
- jacobolus 11y agoGive it some time, and you’ll probably need a new Macbook to get an Apple retina display working. Support for Thunderbolt 3 (which should have enough bandwidth to drive a 5K display at 60 Hz) is coming with Intel Skylake chips, which should be arriving next year. http://blogs.intel.com/technology/2015/06/thunderbolt3/ http://blogs.intel.com/technology/2015/06/thunderbolt3/
- melling 11y agoThunderbolt 3 is USB C. That explains why Apple didn't ship USB C on their new iMacs.
- lazyjones 11y agoIf you have the new "MacBook", it can only drive 4K anyway. You'll likely get 10 bit color with a cheap Dell P2415Q display or similar.
