In the few cases we don't already know their names, it wouldn't make you seem any bit less incompetent or hostile to know their names. Also, you're going on the record as saying that the important thing here is not to apologize, not to fix the problem, not even to try to explain but rather to point out to people that they should sign their names in an online discussion with full names. Grow up, step back, fix it, apologize.
