The previous articles written by their team give a pretty good insight into it.
1. People just seem to love playing CTF-style programming games
2. People who are successful get put in pool A.
3. if Pool A people have checked the "I am looking for work" on their profile, then the starfighter team matches them up with people that want qualified candidates that will actually be able to do the work.
The thesis is that there are qualified people that want/need better work opportunities but traditional hiring processes filter out these people or don't even see them, and that Pool A of Candidates have PreQualified themselves just by playing the CTF.
It's like going on to World of Warcraft or EVE Online and hiring the top market traders / economic strategists for a real world position.
- zerr 11y ago> but traditional hiring processes filter out these people I was interested if this game replaces the "traditional hiring processes". But if the purpose of this game is to just make first contacts - I suppose the contacted pool of candidates are anyway put in that "traditional hiring processes".
- kbenson 11y agoFrom a prior discussion, the idea was supposed to be more of a "why vetted you quite well, and we have contacts, so now we can get you a lunch with a CTO" or some facsimile thereof (I doubt you'll talk to the CTO of a Google or Apple class company, but you might talk to someone with similar power to bypass some of the assessment and hiring policies like the CTO of a smaller company).
