I think your idea is only acceptable as an alternative to existing solitary confinement practices, for prisoners who cannot interact with anyone in person without violence. I do agree that prisoners need more contact with people other than other prisoners and guards, but the way to do that is to make a prison closer to a last-resort punishment and to give those that are subjected to it zero-cost phone calls, video chat, therapy, etc.
