Not all the film would have to be carefully washed/restored of course, but the chances of a reel of film that's been in a can for 75 years just coming out and rolling like it came off the reel yesterday are slim to none. Even under the best of circumstances there's going to need to be special care taken and it ends up (AFAIK) being quite labor intensive.
