- billybilly1920 11y agoThey are still being sued by Oracle over the base the OS is built on.
- blazespin 11y agoLol, i love how this is at the bottom of the HN comments page. Sometimes HN can be kinda clueless.
- bdcravens 11y agoNot sure what the status of that lawsuit has to do with anything. It's not like Google is going to admit defeat and stop moving forward based on a lawsuit that isn't even resolved (which was dismissed once, only to be revived via appeal). Worst case scenario is that Google will pay a damage and start paying Oracle licensing fees for Android, the same way they pay Microsoft.
- fiatjaf 11y agoMalware, viruses.
- Oletros 11y agoPlease, point just one virus for Android

- optionalparens 11y agomemory management, allocation, and garbage collection. Some of this is from Java, but for awhile, Android GC was a nightmare. It's gotten better, but it still sucks in many scenarios. If you need to support older versions of Android, you can't count on many of the improvements at all to help you. If you've never experienced this, you probably never did any serious performance optimization and things like performance sensitive gamedev on Android.
