I was down there recently and did the exact same thing with a friend of mine. Probably one of the best meals I ate at while there, and the vibe was awesome. We were the only group there, so service was great as well. There's a Brazilian startup that connects these underground restaurants, that you would usually need to know by word of mouth, with interested parties: cookapp. Its pretty popular in BA and I think trying to make it to NYC, but has regulatory hurdles to get around.
