  "You get what you pay for" is what I've used. There's a number of ways it happens, and reasons that are, in general, hard to explain. Some people might try, as this article does, and rationalize based on whatever their experience is. Some of it I agree, some of it I disagree... it doesn't matter much. But in my experience, 100% of the time, it always comes down to this adage: you get what you pay for.
