The best way to improve gender equity in tech (and fight just about every other form of discrimination at the same time) is to put an end to Silicon Valley's ridiculous culture of overwork. I don't know how everyone fell into this trap - it leads to terrible code, developer burnout, and eventually drives out anyone who has or wants any semblance of a life outside of work, which in practice is anyone who isn't a male in their twenties. I don't care what your personal politics on gender equality are - if you're making your employees work sixty-hour weeks you're functionally identical to Pat Buchanan.
