It would be interesting to see who are the most successful submitters, that is the users with the highest ratio of submitted posts which have reached the front-page vs overall submitted posts.
- daedalus44 11y agoI looked for that too in the article and missed it, too. But then I thought it might not be that easy. I suspect there will be a lot of users with a single luck shot or two, ruining the statistics
- DanBC 11y agoI'd be interested in any information about frequent submitters. I submit probably too much, and I'm interested to know what percentile I'm in.
- daedalus44 11y agoI should state here that I am not the one who made this blog post, so you might want to contact the author himself for further analysis requests ...
- weinzierl 11y agoIf I remember correctly the leaders list (https://news.ycombinator.com/leaders https://news.ycombinator.com/leaders) had a third column in the past simply named Avg. I showed Karma per post.
- minimaxir 11y agoAvg karma was highly misleading so it's no surprise it was removed.
- minimaxir 11y agoI had a hacky implementation of this in a previous analysis: http://minimaxir.com/img/hn-top-submitters.png http://minimaxir.com/img/hn-top-submitters.png I can sorta recreate it with this BigQuery: SELECT author, COUNT(author) as num_submissions, ROUND(SUM(score >= 10)/COUNT(author), 3) AS perc FROM [fh-bigquery:hackernews.stories] GROUP BY author HAVING num_submissions >= 10 ORDER BY perc DESC LIMIT 100 Which results in this output: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EHqYvvAh9zUSUSrn_6t96ENtXrMRKB-ntc57TViBZOE/edit?usp=sharing https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EHqYvvAh9zUSUSrn_6t9...
- gus_massa 11y agoFor the visualization, I prefer a dispersion graph like this: https://imgur.com/0k9loNC https://imgur.com/0k9loNC In case you are wondering, the four outliers at the right are: author num_sub perc pkrumins 133 75.2% whoishiring 126 100.0% jaf12duke 123 85.4% katm 82 85.4%
