Title of the article is missing an important prefix... "Reported". We have no idea if pot use has doubled. In fact, we know that it hasn't doubled. The real question is has it actually increased at all.
I actually think the real question is, why has the (reported) number changed so dramatically? Has actual use changed, or are people just being more honest? I tend to think it's the latter, and I suspect that one driving factor is the shift of public opinion in favor of legalization.[0]
Whether use has increased, or it's now just more accepted, the bigger picture, I believe, is that the tide has shifted. Personally, I think that's a good thing.
