- andrewcooke 17y agosorry - i downvoted you by accident while trying to select for cut + paste :(
- paraschopra 17y agoCan you explain a bit more in detail? This looks fantastic and am interesting in knowing more about it but didn't really get what you mean by diacritic marks.
- Quarrelsome 17y agoI'm interested too. I'm guessing the data is actually encoded into the character as they do look ever so slightly different with different content. This would suggest this means that you can create a dynamic font/character in unicode. I had no idea this was possible, can someone confirm/slap me down for saying silly things?
- nirmal 17y agoI'd like to see the algorithm used to do this sort of compression.
- ars 17y agoIt's a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combining_character http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combining_character However, most of the combining characters also have an equivalent single gylph composed version. But unicode supports making your own by overlaying. An important task of unicode encoding/decoding is inter-converting between the two forms. For example if you require a name to be unique, and one form uses combining characters and the other doesn't, they are identical, but different.
- afshin 17y agoCharacters can have different accents or modifications on them. For example, the letter "e" can be "é" or "è" or "ë", etc. The interesting thing being done here is layering multiple diacritical marks on top of the slash character and then decoding those marks back into plain text.
