Submitter here,
I am a long time everyday reader of HN but I have never posted or really commented. I am a structural engineer with a few years of work in the space program. I have spent a great deal of time building something that I think can redefine the way we do engineering and I am close to finished with an initial version.
I am extremely nervous about posting this, but I would love to hear what everyone thinks. (There is a video in the overview section)
Thanks

- rebootthesystem 11y agoInteresting. I would note the following: "Applications are open for YC Winter 2016"
- theuttick 11y agoI have applied several times, including this round. I am a single founder and I understand hesitance to take people in that situation. I am trying to recruit some co-founders but it has been difficult finding the right people.
- rebootthesystem 11y agoHmmm. I might be interested in getting involved. Need to think about it a bit. I already run a couple of businesses and wasn't looking to add to that workload. I happen to have an aerospace project coming up that will be quite intensive. I won't use your tool for the project but I will think things through as the project progresses in order to gain a better understanding of what your perspective might be. My first reaction was that I liked the intent. Anything can save time and streamline a process has value. I can't comment on the merits of your approach at this point. I see your email address is on the site. I'll contact you towards the end of the year if this makes sense for me.
- theuttick 11y agoSounds good. If you're doing space stuff in houston, I likely have drank with someone you're working around. Be interested to know what you're working on.
- rebootthesystem 11y agoI'll shoot over an email.
- harigov 11y agoI used to work in a company involved in building CAE software and solvers. I can see value in what you seem to be doing but I couldn't figure out what. I should apologize that I didn't spend enough time but a short description would be nice. It seems like you are targeting very broad set of problems. It's usually hard to communicate that way.
- yannis 11y agoI know it is difficult to describe complicated software simply. Make the examples more prominent, and provide a sandbox for someone to try them. Some people like watching videos, others don't.
- theuttick 11y agoThere actually is an example document that any user can fully edit. It's under the docs and examples link.
