This is really cool and something I've wondered about doing too. Has anyone gotten an entire GCC toolchain to 'compile' to JS using a tool like emscripten? It would be pretty neat to be able to compile AVR firmware and send it to an Arduino's bootloader right from the browser.
- icebraining 11y agoI don't think GCC has been compiled to JS, but LLVM and Clang have, and there's an LLVM backend for AVR, so that doesn't seem far-fetched.
- jrockway 11y agoIt also depends what "browser" means to you. If "Chrome", then there's an entire UNIX toolchain you can run inside Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nacl-development-environm/aljpgkjeipgnmdpikaajmnepbcfkglfa?hl=en-US https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nacl-development-e...
- gfwilliams 11y agoThere is http://www.espruino.com http://www.espruino.com - where the toolchain runs in the MCU - you can then just send the JS code you want to execute straight over to it :)
